James Surowiecki wrote the book The Wisdom of Crowds, which has been translated in Dutch: ’Twee Weten meer dan 1‘ (Two know more than 1). The book describes how random people together always make better decisions than individuals, even when the individuals are experts. As this book had received a lot of attention on web sites, web logs and printed media, I had high hopes. I have once heard that once a random problem has been solved somewhere on earth, this solution will always be found quicker at another place on earth. So there must be some kind of spiritual connection. I expected this book to give us these kinds of insights, but I’m very disappointed. The book doesn’t provide any new insight.
